Distribution:
Paraguay, southern Brazil, Uruguay, and northern Argentina.
The Monk Parakeet gets its name from its distinct coloration on the head and chest, which is gray in color and resembles the attire of Quakers (a religious denomination). The plumage of these birds is fascinating, although not considered vibrant. The back of the head, back, wings, and tail are green, as if the parakeet is wearing a hooded cloak. The facial area and part of the neck are gray, while the underparts are light gray with a pale greenish hue.
